Many ATV enthusiasts use their quads to help them go hunting. Traverse a large area of land in no time at all as you scout out the perfect hunting spot. Travel across obstacles that would be difficult to tackle on foot. Lug your trophy back to your vehicle with ease. ATVs make the entire hunting experience much easier (and more fun!). But before you head out, you'll want to ensure your vehicle is properly equipped with the right tools. We rounded up the top accessories for ATVs below. For all your powersports needs, visit Barnes Bros. Motorcycles & Off-road. We proudly serve those in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Storing Your Weapon

Hunting with ATVs requires a weapon. But how do you transport that weapon from the parking lot to your site safely? You don't want to hold it with one hand and steer your quad with the other. You don't want to sling it over your back as it'll become a huge distraction while you're riding. Tossing it into your bay can cause damage to it and knock the sighting out of place.

Instead, you can install a gun scabbard. It'll keep your weapon secure for safe transportation to and from the hunting site. But it's important to ensure the gun is unloaded before putting it on the scabbard.

Another option is a front gun rack. It attaches to the front of ATVs, which gives you easy access to your weapon. When searching for an option, try to get one that is cushioned (as it'll protect your weapon better).

Lighting

The standard lighting on quads is usually...not ideal. Most manufacturers simply slap on the cheapest bulbs possible and ship them to stores. It saves them money, but it's at the cost of the consumer due to the poor quality lighting situation.

Lighting is a key part of riding quads safely. It illuminates obstacles up ahead so you can adjust accordingly. It helps you be seen to other motorists. Good lighting is key!

The best lighting option is LED lighting. These bulbs do cost more upfront, but they last significantly longer. They end up being cheaper in the long run since you'll have to replace them less. They also burn up less energy while producing a more powerful beam. They are better in every way!

Securing Items

It's always helpful to bring along tie downs and ropes when you go hunting on ATVs. Use them to secure your giant trophy to the bed of your quad. Connect your hunting platform to the tree. There are plenty of uses of these small, versatile items. They don't take up much space but can help make your whole experience much easier.

Navigation

Riding ATVs takes you into the backwoods - a land devoid of street signs, addresses, or easy to identify landmarks. Add in spotty cell reception and you create the perfect storm for getting lost. It can be tough navigating to your ideal hunting spot...and navigating back when you get your game. A GPS will help you always know where you are at. You can save favorite locations, such as where your vehicle is parked or the hunting spot you scouted awhile ago. There are plenty of GPS gizmos designed specifically for quads, making it easy to find a functional and high-quality option.
