The American Kawasaki Motorcycle Corporation opened its doors in 1966 in Chicago, Illinois. The team that came to the United States to open the company focused more on making quality motorcycles and not as much on their industrial settings and other unnecessary expenses. With more focus on their bottom line, they found success very quickly in the US. Visit us at Barnes Bros. Motorcycles & Off-Road in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, to view our inventory of Kawasaki® motorcycles for sale. Plus, we serve the Pittsburgh and Washington, Pennsylvania areas, too!

The First Foreign Motorcycle Company With a Promise

The American Kawasaki Motorcycle Corporation was the first foreign motorcycle company started in the US. They started with little to nothing to offer to distributors, only a promise. With no image or customers, they built the company on making quality products in a brand new market. They believed in their abilities to negotiate, determination to succeed, and provide quality products.

Although The Kawasaki Corporation had little to offer in the beginning, it overcame and quickly gained popularity to eventually become one of the biggest brands in the off-roading and recreational world. Some of the top executives gathered and decided to build a factory to manufacture their products where they were sold.

Build A Factory Where They're Selling Products

They built up the American economy by giving jobs to the American public and helped them as a company to keep costs down with shipping and foreign duty expenses. Soon after, other foreign auto and motorcycle manufacturers followed by setting up factories in the US. Because of their American success, the company went international and started selling their motorcycles globally only three years later.

Solving a Problem

Enthusiasts wanted tougher and more durable bikes, as other manufacturers' models were consistently breaking and just not holding up well after dropping or crashing their bikes. Kawasaki noticed the common problem among motorcycle riders and built their bikes to be sturdy and durable. By engineering durable quality plastic materials, their bikes were lightweight enough to be fast but also more sturdy than other brands' motorcycles.

Currently, the company is known as the Kawasaki Motors Corporation, USA, or KMC and is based out of Southern California. They have expanded their production to include Side-by-Side vehicles, Jet Ski Watercrafts, electronics, construction equipment, and even space rockets and missiles. As there are markets for numerous recreational motorsports, Kawasaki has experienced great success and maintained a position as a front-runner in the industry. Contact us at Barnes Bros.
